Learning outcome 3 (U20): Be able to produce the planned media components. M3 (U20): Explain how the created media components comply with the codes and conventions of the media sectors. Codes Codes are systems of signs, which create meaning. These may include both technical codes or symbolic codes. An example of a code that creates meaning is the retro clothes used in our advert to portray another era.  Technical Codes - This is all the ways in which equipment is used to tell the story in a media text (e.g. - camera work or editing). Symbolic Codes - This shows what is beneath the surface of what we see. For example, a characters action can show you how they are feeling and their emotions. Convergence technology definition: C onvergence  is a coming together of two or more distinct entities or phenomena.  Technological convergence  is increasingly prevalent in the information  technology  world; in this context, the term refers to the combination of two or more different  technologies  in a single device. Converging technology has increased in popularity throughout the years in this day and age. Many companies use it to their advantage to gain a wider audience as well as being able to expand their company through the increase of sales. P2 (U20): Create a plan for a cross media advertising campaign in response to a client brief Target Audience The brief states that Carter Soft Drinks requires an advertising campaign for their latest fizzy drink called Phizzwizzard. They want their product to be sold only in cans as they’re aiming for a retro audience of people in their 30’s as their main audience. The product would also appeal to teenagers from the ages of 13-18 as fizzy drinks are products that entice them. Carter soft drinks also ask to create three types of advertisements, a promotional video, billboard and magazine advert. All products have different target audiences. The advertisements both aim for the same audiences, the difference being on who views both products.
